Jill & Leo’s studio newborn photo session in Medina, Ohio

Welcome to my new studio on Public Square in downtown historic Medina, Ohio!

I’m so excited to have my first actual commercial space to have my families in. While I’ve been doing various forms of studio photography for years, what started as a spare bedroom in our home, and then ended up in our efficiency apartment, we now finally have made it to an actual business location NOT attached to my home! I’m excited for all the gorgeous natural light this space allows, the beautiful large windows, the high ceilings, and the historic vibe and feeling of inside the studio and just the entire area. If you’ve never been to downtown historic Medina, you’re missing out! Shopping, places to eat, coffee, treats, it’s got it all. Especially at Christmas, it feels like a Hallmark movie set. It’s so nice to be in an area that allows people to grab a bite to eat, or for one parent to take the kids out for a treat while I am busy still working with Mom and baby at a newborn session or something.

I photographed Jill for her maternity photos, and we took photos at her home after her son Leo was born. But, I had her come into the new studio as well for a short newborn/motherhood session to try out the new space.

Mom and baby were both dressed via the Client Closet (always available to you when you book a session with me!) and I threw in a few plants for some greenery and simple throws and blankets on the bed. I was very inspired by old art and paintings I had seen of Mother’s with their new babies. One of the suggestions I give some of the women inside my photography business course is always to look for inspiration ANYWHERE but other photographers. When you’re learning your style, or trying to get creative or out of a rut, I try and find inspiration through other forms of art work. This also gives me fresh ideas, and gives the images a more intimate and artistic feeling.

I’ll throw a few of the paintings that inspired me for this session below with the images for you to see if you’re interested in that.

If you’re expecting a baby, and want a maternity or newborn session here in my studio, or another kind of session, feel free to reach out via the BOOK NOW button up top on the right hand corner! I would love to chat with you about a session in my new space. I imagine many newborn, maternity, motherhood, and so many more photos are going to be created her in this beautiful location. Can’t wait to create yours too.
