Why You Should Choose a Studio Session for Your Newborn’s Pictures

As a newborn photographer, I understand that choosing the right setting for your baby's first photoshoot can be a daunting task.

During the warmer months here in Cleveland, Ohio I do offer outdoor newborn sessions for the entire family, just ask, I’m happy to do it! And they CAN be beautiful! However, just like in home sessions, they have a few more factors and restraints than a studio session.

Below, some reasons you may find a studio session to be the best fit for your family for newborn photos!

Controlled Environment

A studio provides a controlled environment, where the lighting, temperature, and background can be carefully curated to ensure that your baby is comfortable and safe. This is particularly important for newborns who require a warm and cozy environment to sleep and stay calm during the shoot. The warmer, well fed, and happy they are, the EASIER and more successful photos will be!

Professional Props and Accessories

A studio session provides access to a variety of professional props and accessories that can elevate your baby's photos to the next level. From cozy wraps and blankets to adorable hats and headbands, a studio session allows you to choose from a range of options to create a custom look that suits your family's style. I do have a curated selection of client closet items available for you to use at the studio. You don’t need to bring anything for baby, I have an array of outfits at the studio for your little one that fit and photograph perfectly. Actually, in this session shown in this post, Mom, daughter, and baby are all in client closet items! Come as you are, get all dressed up, and get your photos taken! I will have it all ready for you when you arrive!

Consistent Quality

A studio session ensures consistent quality in terms of lighting, poses, and editing. This means that you can expect a cohesive set of images that showcase your baby's unique features and personality. A consistent look and feel also makes it easier to display your photos as a gallery wall or in an album. While outdoors CAN be beautiful, there are a lot of factors to consider including weather, temperature, lighting, time of day, and things like bugs.

More Focused Attention

A studio session provides a more focused attention on your baby, without distractions from the environment or other family members. This allows your photographer to capture intimate moments and details that might be missed in a busier setting. Again, having that calming, relaxed environment can really be key to a successful session!

Flexibility in Scheduling

A studio session allows for more flexibility in scheduling, as it is not dependent on the weather. This means that you can plan your session in advance and have peace of mind knowing that it will not be canceled or rescheduled due to rain. We also don’t have to shoot at sunset (when all of my outdoor sessions take place!) so we can work around bed or nap times, and take the photos during the day, when outdoor photos aren’t an option because of harsh lighting. Most of my studio sessions do take place on weekday mornings, when Public Square in Medina is the least busy so parking is easy and things are quiet!

Get the Lifestyle Look, Without all the Work

We don’t all have a Pinterest worthy home, let’s just admit it! And that is okay! Maybe you just moved, your new house is still under construction, or you are in the never ending remodeling phase. We personally just finally removed the living room wallpaper, but still have the cherry wallpaper up in the bathroom, so…I know how it goes, okay? My studio offers a neutral palette to get the lifestyle family look for your newborn session, WITHOUT all the work. No cleaning, worrying about picking up the mess that comes when a new baby comes home. Just show up, and then leave. Go home, without anyone in your space. Plus, you know the images will be consistent with my portfolio, because it’s in this space! So, you know what to expect in terms of results! Everyone. has different decor in their homes, lighting, etc. and that can be hard to navigate in homes that are darker and don’t have the light or space we need for photos.

My studio photos aren’t the traditional posed images you see of baby curled up naked and alone on a blanket. My newborn sessions at my studio do capture baby, relaxed and perfect as they are, but also capture the entire family together.

If you are in the Cleveland, Ohio area, and expecting, please reach out in your first or second trimester in order to ensure a spot on my schedule for your newborn session! Please hit the BOOK NOW button up in the top right corner and send me an email so we can get started!
